SYMBOLISM

SHIELD – derived from the provincial seal of Oriental Mindoro where the town is located.

 

CIRCULAR LINES – symbolize the continual vision for progress in economic, social, civic and spiritual sector; the circular lines also represent the rim of a “kaing” (native basket) which is used in transporting kalamansi, sintures and other fruits; the 26 threads stand for strength; they also represent the 26 barangays of the municipality.

 

1963 – year of foundation of Socorro as a municipality after separating from the municipality of Pola.

 

RICEFIELDS – represent the source of livelihood of the townspeople; rice is the primary staple food and excess harvest is sold in local markets and also transported to Manila and nearby provinces.

 

COCONUT, BANANA AND FRUIT TREES – denote the abundance of production of coconut, banana and different kinds of fruits as other sources of income and livelihood of the people of Socorro.

 

SUN AND RAYS – symbolize God which gives light and warmth to the townspeople for continuous strength and total progress.

 

BLUE WAVES – symbol of river, lake and spring and other bodies of water which are the source of marine life.

 

MOUNTAINS – main source of lumber.
