SYMBOLISM

 

CIRCLE – a symbol of unity, with the names of the municipality and the province inscribed in it.

 

SHIELD – derived from the seal of the province of La Union divided into 4 portions with the sun inside a small circle at the center against a background divided in 2 parts, blue on top and red at the bottom.

 

TOBACCO PLANT AND PLOW – at the upper left portion of the shield symbolizing farming the town’s principal source of income.

 

EARTHEN JARS – at the upper right portion of the shield representing pottery one of the leading industries of the municipality.

 

FISHING BOAT – at the lower left portion of the shield, a symbol for fishing and other sea based industries, the town’s principal “cash” products.

 

WHEEL – at the lower right portion of the shield representing post-harvest facilities; also represents commerce.

 

SCROLL – at the lower portion of the shield with the description “Naimpusoan Nga Panagserbi” (whole hearted public service), the town’s motto.

 

1764 – the year the municipality was founded.

 

BLUE – represents peace, justice, equanimity, tranquility and calmness.

 

RED – symbolizes industry, initiative, activity and aggressiveness.

 

GOLDEN YELLOW (SUN) – represents richness in aims and fullness of mind and heart.

 

WHITE – stands for purity.
