SYMBOLISM

TREE – this towering tree signifies growth and portrays the legend which gave the town its name “Mataasnakahoy”.


1932 – signifies the beginning of the town town’s existence as an independent municipality.


RISING SUN – symbolizes the light and guidance of the Creator on different areas of human endeavor.


SUN RAYS – represent the 16 barangays that comprise the town.


3 STARS – symbolize the partnership of the local government units, the non-government organizations and the private sectors in the local governance.


DIAMOND SHAPE – stands for dignity of the leaders in guiding the people in all directions towards development and progress.


RED, WHITE, AND BLUE – portray the Philippine National Flag.


GOLDEN YELLOW – symbolizes the high aspirations of the townspeople.


LANZONES, COCONUT, COFFEE, AND BANANA – represent the major farm products of the municipality.


PIG, COW, AND CHICK – represent poultry and livestock industries as major sources of livelihood of the people.


WAVES AND VOLCANO – represent the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. Mataasnakahoy has 3 coastal barangays with a shoreline of about 5 kilometers.


FISH – a fresh water sardine locally known as “tawilis”—the lake’s delicacy (Harengula Tawilis—scientific name); the only specie found in Asia.
