SYMBOLISM 

SHIELD – derived from the provincial seal of Batanes where the town is located.

 

HILL – represents Idiang Hill, the last known stronghold of the ancestors against the Spaniards.

 

IRREGULAR SEA COAST – represents the aquatic resources of the municipality.

 

FISHING VESSEL OR “TATAYA” – the vessel used in catching flying fish. It is rowed by two persons and a third man at the prow with a scoop-net.

 

TWO STARS – stand for the two distant barangays which give light to the población.

 

CATTLE – represents cattle raising, the major source of income of the townspeople.

 

GOAT – stands for livestock product, the secondary source of income of the townspeople.

 

GARLIC – represents the major cash crop of the municipality.

 

BLUE COLOR – stands for unity.

 

SUN – symbolize hope and prosperity.
