CROSS & CRESCENT MOON WITH ONE (1) STAR (upper portion) - represent unity between the Christian and Muslim Filipinos

SUN WITH EIGHT (8) RAYS - stands for Philippine sun and its rays symbolizing the first eight provinces that revolted against Spain

EMBLEM OF THE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO (center design) - This symbolic emblem with four stars represents the four (4) provinces of the ARMM. The crescent moon depicts the aspirations and struggle of the Muslims in Southern Philippines for an Autonomous government

RED, WHITE & BLUE COLOR - represent the color of our national flag

GREEN TRIANGLE - stands for Mt. Tumantangis, one of the highest mountains in Sulu which is visible from a distance and from any points entering Sulu

LOWER DESIGN IN GREEN FIELD - stands for But Datu, wherein lies the remains of Raja Baginda, acknowledged to be the first Muslim Ruler preceding the Sulu Sultanate
