SYMBOLISM

 

The patch is designed like a shield. This represents the mission of the unit in its avowed commitment of defending the Filipino people against tyranny and oppression.


The sharp-bladed bolo known as the “Talibong” among the brave and freedom-loving Ilongos represents the gallantry and heroism of the men of the 66th Infantry Battalion in their willingness to take up the cudgel against whose who would in any way challenge and threaten the freedom and independence of those whom they have vowed to protect.

 

The apple green laurel represents peace as well as the lofty ideals of the 66th in its noble aim to bringing peace and security to the land.

 

The fatigue background speaks of the training and ability of its men in blending with the background and in taking advantage of the terrain in order to fight the enemy. It also speaks of the affinity and sense of belongingness of the 66th to the Philippine Army in particular and to the AFP in general.

 

The 66th represents the numerical designation of the battalion which was activated per to go NR 232 HWS, PA EFF 01 MAY 87.
