SYMBOLISM

SPEARHEAD – the spearhead shape of the seal symbolizes the unit leading in combat. It has the capability to strike the objective ahead, paving the way for the rest and finally setting the example as an armed tool to liberate the oppressed.

 

KRIS – a bladed weapon used by the brave sons of Lapulapu. It is a weapon or instrument of destruction or combat. A coercive weapon suggesting the use of force in war, mutually antagonistic and a sign of readiness to fight. The Kris to the traditional Filipino warrior, is a symbol of GALLANTRY, HONOR AND AUTHORITY the unit living within the finest tradition of soldiery.

 

“TATAG” – the Filipino root word for stability and pioneering. The unit motto signifying the unfeigned dedication and steady purpose of the unit to accomplish its given mission:

            STABILITY before challenges even in the most adverse condition.

            FIRM in the face of the enemy, whatever ideology it has in any kind of battle ground.

            ENDURING reality, knowing our capacities against our limitations, thinking positive to carry a common national goal…Peace, Stability and Progress.

 

LIGHTNING BOLTS – characterize power of flight and rapid progress. The adaptability of the unit to be employed anywhere in the country (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao) in a moment’s notice.

 

56 – the numerical designation for the unit. The 56th Army combat unit under the 3rd Infantry Brigade.
