SYMBOLISM

 

DIAMOND IN THREE LAYERS – it symbolizes a gem representing the Philippines as the “Pearl of the Orient” which the PAF is bound to defend and protect. The first layer is colored red, the second is white and the third or inner layer is blue. These colors represent the primary colors of the Philippine Flag, Red stands for courage and bravery, White is for the pure and lofty ideals of the Filipino people, and Blue signifies the Filipino’s love for peace and freedom which the PAF personnel are equally imbued with.

 

WINGS – symbolize aviation for which the PAF is known, the basic mission being the “guardian of the Philippine skies”. It depicts the medium of warfare the PAF is particulary trained and prepared for—aerial warfare. The golden color symbolizes the nobility of purpose and the lofty ideals which every PAF personnel possesses in the pursuit of assigned tasks.

 

3 GOLDEN STARS – symbolize the 3 major islands comprising the Philippines, namely; Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao which the PAF is sworn to defend and protect.

 

CIRCULAR DISC WITH BLUE BACKGROUND AND YELLOW BORDERS – symbolizes the unity that binds the PAF personnel in the attainment of given mission. The blue background signifies the “Philippine skies” which the PAF is basically and primarily tasked to protect and defend as integral part of the territorial domain of the Philippine government. The yellow borders represent the all-time skill and dexterity of the PAF personnel in rising to meet the challenges inherent in the pursuit of given missions of tasks.

 

PILIPINAS HUKBONG HIMPAPAWID – is the official designation of this major service of the AFP.
