The corporate seal of Negros Oriental State University, a round seal with scallop edges, presents in one glance its salient character, purpose and area of service. Its circular shape represents the unity, continuity and  universality of knowledge and learning which are the basic concerns of the State University


SCALLOP EDGES - stand  for  the  manifold diversity  of the branches of knowledge

LIGHTED TORCH - stands  for  truth  and  eternal power of knowledge to enlighten minds and drive away the darkness of ignorance.

COLORS - the red, blue, white and yellow which are the colors of  the Philippine national flag affirm the essential nature and characteristics of the University as a State Institution

GREEN LEAVES - represent the fertile minds of youths that the university seeks to educate as well as the actual and potential richness  of the country to which the university dedicates its best efforts in terms of teaching, research, extension and development.

OPEN BOOK - represents  the distinctive liberal character and liberalizing, power of education

LIGHT RAYS - from the torch of knowledge stretching across the red and blue areas signify that the NORSU area of service is not just the province, not just the immediate regions, but the entire Philippines


The words NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE UNIVERSITY and PHILIPPINES signify the name and nationality of the State Institution while  RA 9299 and MMIV highlights the Republic Act that gave it is University status and the year (2004) when this became a fulfilled reality.
