SYMBOLISM
CIRCLE – a symbol of continuing unity and commitment of dedicated public service with the inscription of the name City of San Fernando.
SHIELD – in the middle of the circle is a white shield depicting sustained Peace, Order and Security and divided into 4 parts: the center, the upper portions, and the left and right sides.
MAP – in the center of the shield is a red heart with the map of the city at its center, the seat of national government offices in Region I and capital of the province.
AIRPLANE, LOCOMOTIVE, PIER WITH ANCHORED SHIP – on the upper part of the white shield are the 3 major modes of transportation: airplane for the International Airport; locomotive as an alternate land transportation and the pier with anchored ship as an International Port of Entry.
3 FISHING BOATS – on the left lower portion of the shield are fishing boats representing the year-round major family livelihood of coastal residents.
3 TOBACCO LEAVES – on the right lower portion of the shield are tobacco leaves representing the traditional major source of income of local farmers after the rice harvest.
12 CORNERED CIRCLE – encircling the white shield is a 12 cornered circle, representing the Councilor Districts, with the 59 barangays represented by 59 gears.
SCROLLS – beneath the shield and floating in a field of blue is the City’s motto “Agay-ayat Kadakayo Amin” (We Love You All), aptly projecting peace, respect and love.
