1949 - the year Mandaon was created into a municipality by the late President Elpidio Quirino by virtue of Executive Order No. 337 dated May 1, 1949

FISH, CRAB AND SHRIMP - it show that Mandaon has an extensive coastline which yields a rich harvest of sea products, not to mention the existence of fish ponds which rakes in rich profits from crabs and shrimps which command a high commercial a value

CARABAO AND COW HEAD - it show that Mandaon Municipality is a good contributor to Masbate's economy being the "Marlboro Country". The municipality raises the greatest number of cattle province-wise, what with its wide expanse of agricultural lands with rolling hills and fertile valleys. The hilly portions are lush with cogon, the daily fare of cattle

RICE, CORN AND COCONUT - it show that Mandaon is a rich agricultural region. The wide fertile valleys are devoted to farming and for a time the municipality was dubbed the "rice bowl" of the province. Coconut too are abundant in the place, giving impetus to enterprising farmers who are engaged in the oil trade

COLORS - Blue, Red, White and Golden Yellow represent the colors of the Philippine national flag
