WHITE SAND - represents the white sand of the municipality along the Pacific Coast which signifies tourism

DOVE - signifies freedom and peace within the municipality

1948 - the year Mercedes, by virtue of Republic Act. No. 262. was separated from the municipality of Guiuan and converted into an independent municipality

SUN - implies hope and a brighter future

SEA - represents fishing industry, the other source of living in the municipality

SIXTEEN (16) STARS - represent the sixteen (16) barangays of the municipality of Mercedes, Eastern Samar


COLORS:

BLUE - signifies the calmness of the place

GREEN - stands for cleanliness

WHITE - represents the purity of the tourist area

YELLOW - signifies development and progress
