RINGS - the seal depicts the big ring that reads: Surigao del Sur State University (SDSSU). The ring insures the continuity of strong volunteer leadership of the University. The SDSSU comprises six campuses namely Cantilan; Lianga; Tagbina; San Miguel; Cagwait and Tandag which provide different degree and non-degree programs. The ring serves as a bridge between the University and the world, bringing experiences and perceptions gained outside the University.

SHIELD - represents the University educational purposes, its mission and vision. The shield is quartered into different programs offered by the University of SDSSU.

GEAR - at the upper right quadrant, indicates polytechnic courses offered in Tandag such as Education, Engineering, IT and Computer Science.

LEAF AND TREE - at the lower right quadrant, represent Agriculture and Forestry in San Miguel and Tagbina Campuses.

FISH AND WATER - symbolize Fisheries and Aquamarine courses offered at Lianga Campus.

CADUCEUS AND ATOM - at the upper left quadrant, represent Applied Sciences and Medical courses.

T-SQUARE AND RULER - at the lower left quadrant, indicate Trades and Industrial Arts programs offered in Cantilan and Cagwait Campuses.

OPEN BOOK - serves as the University curricula of the different courses offered at SDSSU.

TORCH - serves as the guiding light in the SDSSU community.

LAUREL - proclaims jubilant victory over local and global challenges faced by the SDSSU graduates.

COLOR - the seal is set in sky-blue color as the official logo which stands for faithful courage among SDSSU teaching forces, students, administrations, staff and other stakeholders.
