SHIELD - derived form the provincial seal
of Ilocos Sur where the town is located.
GREEN HERB - symbolizes the plant from which the
municipality derived its present name. Known as "Kabig-bigaan" from
"Biga" (Alcasia Indica) a course, erect and araceous plant with large
orange which grows on the bank of the rivers.
MONUMENT - represents the monument of Juan de
Salcedo, the founder of the town as capital of ancient Ilocos. Vigan vied in
importance and gentility with the proud city of Intramuros at the time.
BUILDINGS - represent the Vigan Cathedral and the
Archbishop's Palace, living monuments for century old historic Ilocandia.
