SHIELD - derived from the provincial seal of Abra where the town is located.

MOUNTAINS AND FIELDS - describe the terrain which consist of lowland rice-fields and mountainous region.

THREE (3) STARS - symbolizes the (3) major islands: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

CARABAO - represents cattle raising as the major industry of the municipality; support animal in farming activity of the people.

SEVEN (7) PINE TREES - symbolize the seven (7) barangays and the presence of reforestation program of the national government particularly in Mapaso Nursery where the famous Mapaso Hot Spring and the cave is located.
