SHIELD - derived from the provincial seal of Sorsogon where the town is located.

TWO DOTS - stand for the two districts of the municipality.

TWENTY FIVE STARS - represent the twenty five barangays that comprise the municipality.

1866 - signifies the year of existence of the town as "pueblo civil" by virtue of an Order dated April 16, 1866 from the Spanish Government.

MAP (BLUE COLOR) - depicts loyalty to the Philippine Government.

ABACA, COCONUT, AND RICE - represent the main agricultural crops of the municipality.

VOLCANO - stands for the Bulusan volcano.

RICE LANDS - depicting the terrain that climbs up to the slopes of Bulusan volcano.

BOAT, FISH, SHRIMP, AND CRAB - represent the fishing industry in the Pacific Ocean lying in the eastern part of the municipality.

CHURCH - symbolizes the Barcelona Church built in 1874.
