SHIELD - derived from the seal of the Province of La Union.

TWO (2) SHAKING HANDS - stands for Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur, each of which contributed a sizable portion of their territories to give birth to the Province of La Union.

TOBACCO - symbolizes tobacco as the main agricultural product of the municipality.

CAULDRON - signifies the townspeople's main source of income, TAGAPULOT-making, delicacies from sugarcane.

PLOW - denotes the fertile land of the municipality.

1578 - the year the municipality was founded.

BABAEN ITI ASI TI APO - the town's motto meaning "With the help of God".
